Qualifications Scotland opens exam timetable consultation to learners and educators

Published

Qualifications Scotland is inviting learners, teachers, lecturers and other stakeholders to help shape the 2027 National Qualifications exam timetable — giving them more direct input into the process than ever before.

A provisional version of the 2027 National Qualifications exam timetable is now available on the Qualifications Scotland website. Learners, teachers, lecturers and other professionals are encouraged to share their views on the proposed schedule by 17:00 on Friday 24 April 2026.

Respondents can review the timetable as a whole and flag any concerns early. All feedback will be collated and used to inform the final timetable, which will be published in June 2026.

Qualifications Scotland will also publish a broad summary of all feedback at that point, though it will not be possible to respond to or consider concerns about any individual learner's schedule.

Donna Stewart, Scotland’s Chief Qualifications and Examination Officer, said: "We've already worked closely with teaching unions, head teachers, local authorities, learner organisations and colleges to develop this timetable, and now we want to go further. As part of our commitment to engage more deeply with learners and educators and put them at the very heart of everything we do, we're opening the process to let them have their say.

"Developing a timetable that works for everyone is a genuine challenge — with over 200 exams covering 130 subjects sat across a six-week period. We've used candidate data from this year to inform our scheduling and have reduced the number of clashes to a minimum. But we know that the people working and learning in our schools and colleges will spot things we might miss, and that's exactly why their input matters."

Any learner affected by a scheduling clash should speak to their school, college or training provider in the first instance.
